About

ONE BAD DAY is an up-and-coming multimedia retail brand founded by arts graduate, Oscar Ling-Cottey, in 2021. Originally from Bath, the 24-year-old entrepreneur started his creative journey in 2019 after moving to London to study Illustration & Visual Media at the University of the Arts London, where he achieved a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts degree.

ONE BAD DAY began as a series of simplistic, hand-drawn illustrations centring around the brand’s mascot, Obdob, who experiences various unfortunate situations that could be the catalyst to a bad day. While some depictions are inspired by Oscar's personal experiences, others venture into more exaggerated and imaginative scenarios.

Obdob is an avatar that has been stripped back to a basic form, removing any attributes which could define it or create a singular identity. It is human; it is neutral; it is me; it is you. Obdob is all of us, and in that it reflects the everyday actions that on occasion may just experience an event that stands out as ‘one bad day’. We have all had one of those and that is what connects us as human beings and allows us to celebrate misfortune; to rejoice at the slapstick, or chuckle at the unfortunate soul who is unlucky enough that today is just not their day.

As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine.
